Witchcraft in Word Faith Teachings

SNIPIT – Witchcraft includes the use of an incantation or enchantment to cast spells. An incantation can take place during a ritual, a hymn or prayer, and may invoke or praise a deity. It also can be used to cast spells on an object or person. This is known as pharmakeia, a word where we get the modern day word, medicine.

Pharmakeia was also known to make spell-giving potions believed to have transforming powers, such as the ability to extend life, boost energy, or enhance the mind. It also refers to any substance used to poison, prevent or treat disease, or gain control of someone’s behavior. In the case of the word of faith doctrine, the substance is your words.

When faced with a problem, any problem, a word faith teacher will instruct you to go to the bible and find every scripture that references your need. For example, if you are sick you would find every scripture that references healing. If you are having financial problems, you would find every scripture that reference prosperity and abundance. You will then need to repeat these scriptures on a regular basis.

Sometimes, a false teacher will give you a list of preselected confessions for the year. These confessions are to be read privately and with the congregation. The confession may also be part of the Sunday morning worship service.

Positive confession is a new age/thought practice of saying aloud what you want to happen in your life and expect that God will make it a reality. Not only do you have to possess the correct words, you must also have enough faith. Little faith is not going to cut it. Neither can you speak any negative words (negative confession) for that will make your confession null and void. Negative confession is saying the truth/reality of a situation or expressing fear aloud. Saying you get the flu during flu season would be a negative confession resulting in you actually getting the flu during flu season. This logic falls on it’s face when you read how king Nebuchadnezzar thought he had power. After God was finished with him he glorified God and said “all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he does according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou? Daniel 4:35

What is man that he can command God? Can creation manipulate the Creator? No. God, forbid!

Positive and negative confession is also known as the “law of attraction”. This is a belief that ‘like attracts like.’ What you put out into the universe will be given back to you – positive or negative. In “The Secret”, writer Lisa Nichols suggests that if a person opens an envelope expecting to see a bill, the envelope will “confirm” those thoughts and contain a bill when opened. A person who decided to instead expect a check might find a check instead of a bill.
