Where did Jesus Atone for our sins? By Paul Scozzafava

1) On the cross?

2) In Hades or Hell as the Faith Teachers, Kenneth Copeland, Kenneth Hagen, Fredrick K.C.Price, Benny Hinn, etc. claim.

You might say wait a minute! These men have never said or taught these things!!

‘The righteousness of God was made to be sin. He accepted the sin nature of Satan in His own spirit. And at the moment that he did so he cried “My God my God why has thou forsaken me.” You don’t know what happened at the cross. Why do you think Moses, upon the instruction of God, raised the serpent upon that pole instead of a Lamb? That used to bug me. I said, “why in the world would you want to put a snake up there the sign of Satan? Why didn’t you put a lamb on that pole ?” and the Lord said, “Because it was the sign of Satan that was hanging on the cross.” He (Jesus) said “I accepted in my own spirit, spiritual, death; and the light was turned off.” {Copeland, “What happened from the cross to the throne?”} (cassette tape) [Audio]

“Why did he need to be begotten, or born. Because he became like we were, separated from God. Because he tasted spiritual death for every man And His spirit and inner man went to Hell in my place, can’t you see that physical death wouldn’t remove your sins, he’s tasted death for every man, he’s talking about spiritual death. Jesus is the first person that was ever born again. Why did his spirit need to be born again? Because it was estranged from God.”{Kenneth Hagen} [Audio]

“Ladies and gentlemen, the serpent is a symbol of Satan. Jesus Christ knew The only way he would stop Satan is by becoming one in nature with him. You Say. “What did you say? What blasphemy is this?” No you hear this. He did Not take my sin, he became my sin. Sin is the nature of Hell. Sin is what made Satan. You remember? He wasn’t Satan till sin was found in him. Lucifer was perfect till Ezekiel says, “sin was found in thee.” It was sin that made Satan. Jesus said.” I’ll be sin. I’ll go to the lowest place! I’ll go to the origin of it! I won’t just take part in it – I’ll be the totality of it” when Jesus became sin, Sir he took it from A to Z and said, “no more!” think about this: He became flesh. That flesh might become like him. He became death, so that dying man can live. He became sin, so sinners can be righteous in him. He became one with the nature of Satan, so all those who had the nature of Satan can partake of the nature of God.” {Benny Hinn on TBN December 15, 1990} [Audio]

“The thing that redeemed us was not Jesus being nailed to the cross. His spirit and soul went in to Hades. and he walked through the door of Hades, satan was seated on his throne with a sickening grin on his face, his lip twisted in grotesque triumph and all the imps of hell were dancing a jig. And the word came, “We got him now! We defeated the plan of God!” and the devil was sitting there saying “I told you, if you’d follow me, I’d lead you to victory! We got Him now.” And they wrapped their grimy hands and the chains of hell itself around Jesus and they confined Him to one of the cells in the Hades section of the underworld. And then satan and his demon hosts went on a three-day drunk. They thought they had Him, they had defeated and thwarted the plan of Almighty God and Jesus sat there as it were, immobile, not saying a word, not doing anything, except serving our sentence! {Fredrick K.C.Price} [Audio]

These men have. And continue to teach this Doctrine!!

So the question arisesDid Jesus take on the nature of Satan? Did Jesus go to Hell and have to be born again?

In light of Jesus’, Paul’s, Peters, Johns, Judes exhortation to test everything, Is this teaching in accordance with scripture? If so then we should embrace the teachings of the “Faith Movement” as doctrine and truth endorsing its presents on our television programs, in our book stores, and in our churches. But if we can prove with an honest evaluation of the evidence to have deviated from the scripture, and promoting a gospel contrary to the teachings of Jesus and His disciples then we must waste no time exposing it as false and detrimental to the body of Christ!

In John 19-30 it tells us it was on the cross that Christ paid in full or finished His redeeming and atoning work for mankind. The phrase “It is finished” is a translation of the Greek word tetelesti. This word was stamped on a document of charges against a criminal after they served or paid in full their debt and/or prison sentence. According to this verse Jesus said “it is finished” therefore, this concludes that Jesus completed his redemptive and atoning sacrifice on the cross.

In Luke 23:46 And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, ‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.'(cf. John 19:30)

Paul says in (Col. 2:13-15) And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him having forgiven all your trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way. Nailing it to His cross.

The New Testament writers used two main words to signify the quality of life.

#1) Psuche – The natural or physical in English “Soul” example. Matt.26: 38 then saith He unto them, my soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto of death. Here the word for soul is (Psuche) But when speaking of the spiritual life the Greek word (Zoe) is used. Example. Jn. 10:10 Here, the word life is (Zoe) but in Jn. 10:11 The word (Psuche) is used. (Vines Greek dic. Pg. 337) (Isa. 53:10-12) Soul is the Septuagint of (Psuche) the breath of life!! (Gesenius’ Hebrew Lexicon pg. 559/5315)

(Eph. 2:13-16) Vrs. 15 But how in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For He is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us: having abolished in His flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself twain one new man, so making peace.

(Col. 1:19-23) Vrs. 21b-22 For it pleased the Father that in Him all fullness dwell; and, having made peace through the blood of His cross, by Him to reconcile all things unto Himself, by Him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath reconciled in the body of His flesh through death. To present you holy and unblamable and unreproveable in His sight.

(1 Pet. 2:24) Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: By whose stripes ye are healed.

(1 pet. 4:1-2) Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: For He hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin. Time after time the scripture tells us Jesus died in His flesh (Greek, Soma)

(Lev. 17:11/Heb. 9:22) Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin.

(Rom. 5:8-9) But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

No where does it tell us Jesus died spiritually! But because of the ‘Rhema’ word of knowledge (only the most spiritual can obtain this knowledge) This is extra or new revelation, not biblical. These men make the claims that it’s from God and of God. Since this teaching contradicts the bulk of the biblical text, it is utter blaspheme to say that Christ our Lord took on the nature of Satan and had to be born again in Hell.

Christ is God in flesh (Col. 2:9)

Christ did not have to be born again since He never sinned!!!
